Village Description. There are 9 various communities in Kaltern: the "Dorf", which refers to the village center, "Mitterdorf", which is located up the hill from the center, "St. Anton"/"Pufss" and "St. Nikolaus", at the foot of the Mendel mountain. Then there is "Altenburg", up on the hill in the Altenburg woods, "St. Josef", on the west side of the lake and finally, "Oberplanitzing" and "Unterplanitzing", which border with the neighboring village of Eppan.
