Handed down through generations of a family's wine expertise

Family business
in the second generation

Werner Morandell founded the Lieselehof winery in 1993 on the foundation of quality and sustainability. After a long search for the best sites and conditions, he discovered the unique “Kardatsch” site below the steep Mendola Mountains and decided to build the winery. The geographical and climatic conditions here seemed ideal to turn his dream into reality. 30 years later, after many years full of challenges, the second generation with the two twin sons Julian & Maximilian now continues at Lieselehof.

Experience the epitome of luxury through our vineyards

Our
Lieselehof sites

From the sunny red wine slopes of Lake Kaltern at just over 200 meters, our vineyards stretch up to St. Anton at 500 metres. This is where most of our best white wines and Pinot Noirs thrive. At an alpine altitude of 1250 metres above sea level on the historic Mendola Pass, the cold-resistant Solaris grapes ripen in a location that is unique in Europe, surrounded by coniferous forests and rocks.

Where tradition meets innovation

Werner Morandell Pioneer
in sustainable viticulture

As early as the 1990s, the founder of the winery inquired about sustainable methods in the vineyard and began to work all of his vineyards in a biologically gentle manner. At the turn of the millennium, the big breakthrough came when Lieselehof planted resistant hybrid grape varieties for the first time, which have a natural resistance to fungal diseases and therefore, hardly need any treatment with pesticides. In practice, this means that great quality wines can be produced, with no pesticides or herbicides.
